(Français) Prochain Atelier : les Nouveautés de ZBrush 4R2b

January 18th, 2012 10 comments

New Cintiq 24 HD

September 13th, 2011 12 comments

Wacom just announced their new flagship, the Cintiq 24 HD.

This new model is not a simple update of the previous model like the last update which integrate the Intuos 4 technology. The evolution is major this time, mainly in the support of a 24″ wide screen and a new ergonomic of the tablet itself. The new stand seems strong and offer more possibilities in the tablet position with the ability to put it in front of the desk, and not only on its top! But as far as I can see, we are losing the rotation perpendicular to the tablet which will be a big miss for me.

This is the major specifications:

  • 24″ HD – resolution – 1920×1200 (320 pixels de more pixels on the wide)
  • h-IPS LCD screen
  • 178° wide angle
  • A 2.6mm parallax which seems to be lower that the previous model (distance between the screen and the tablet surface)
  • Wide Gamut with up to 92% of Adobe RGB color space
  • Almost 30 kg!

About the tablet Design, the area about the screen seems to be really large, far from what was the previous model which had thin areas. The buttons and Touch Rings are nicely separated and I guess it will be easier to find the buttons without looking are where they are (the problem of the last Cintiq and Intuos 4 in my opinion), but I would have hope a Touch Strip which have a better ergonomic.. but perhaps that’s just a personal opinion. At the end, the Tablet look massive and I wouldn’t be surprise that it’s as large that my 30″ screens. Damn, it won’t fit my desk!!

I’ll be able to test it in less than a month at the Paris’ Photo trade show, then I will be able to provide you a more accurate feedback. Now it’s time to save some money!

Oh, yes.. where is the multi touch so long awaited?

More information at Wacom website.

EDIT : Engadget did a video review of it.

Beeeer printed with a ZBuilder

August 3rd, 2011 6 comments

I’ve been lucky enough to have one of my (old) ZBrush model printed on a ZBuilder, a new 3D printer from ZCorp, which is impressive by its accuracy.

This is the finished 3D print, photographed at 3DAvenir, the french ZCorp distributor which I warmly thanks for this 3D print!

When I’ll have this model in my own hands, I’ll do a review with higher and better quality (and not from a cell phone like above! :) )

Anatomy 2.0

June 21st, 2011 No comments

If you have a strong interest in human anatomy, in digital sculpting and in ZBrush, I would strongly suggest you to look at the new ZBrushWorkshop traing by Ryan Kingslien: Anatomy 2.0.

Basically, it’s 6 modules of 3h hours each, plus the access to the introducing ZBrush 4 video and three 1:1 meeting with Ryan (priceless!!)

If you want my humble opinion, Ryan is a very good instructor who have a very strong knowledge of ZBrush and more important, which always try to find and experiment new way of sculpting and self improvement. On the top of that, his english is clear crystal, which is good to know if you are not a native english speaker like me.

If I had more time, I would definitely jump on this training even if the price may look expensive, but it’s have to be compared to a personal training, not a DVD training.

This post is not an advertising, it’s just an advise from me :p

Panoramics

It’s been a long time since I have a strong interest in panoramics, even some old post of this blog can demonstrate that! :)

I just added to my gallery a small set of panoramics, in different styles. I’ll try to post more soon. Enjoy!

(Français) Atelier 16 partie 3 le 8 juin – Forum ?

June 2nd, 2011 5 comments

Workshop #16 – inspiration!

May 1st, 2011 11 comments

For the french reader/speaker, this is my inspiration for the next online ZBrush workshop, dedicated to the full creation of a 3D figure, with for the final step, its 3D print :

Then during 3 or 4 online workshop, I’ll build from scratch this figure (will, not exactly the same :) , which comes from the Shunya Yamashita Art Book Wild Flower.

If you want to register for free to this workshop, please check the french version of this post (clik on the french flag).

A quote in Le Monde

April 29th, 2011 No comments

Just a short post to let you know that I’ve been quoted in one of the major french newspaper “Le Monde” in an article about the 3D Printing “L’impression 3D à la portée de tous ?” (3D Printing accesible for everyone?).

In fact, there is a lot to say about this subject, but honestly, almost everybody can now try to print in 3D a model, from a simple logo to a complex model, whatever you are a beginner in 3D or an advanced artist. Just download Sculptris or the ZBrush trial, have some fun with them, export in OBJ and send it to 3D Printing companies like Sculpteo, Shapeways or iMaterialise. Just try, it’s priceless to have your own virtual artwork in your real world hands !
