Edit: you are on the new hosting!
This is a short message to let you know that I’m currently changing of hosting and then, perhaps the website will be down for a couple of days. Then no worries, it will be back later
We just released a new free plugin for ZBrush today: UV Master. yes, again a free one and we hope it will help all the artist by removing one of the most complex task in the 3D production: the UVs creation.
UV Master is originally a one click button plugin to make the UV creation accessible for all the “humans” (and not for the “Aliens”
) and which producing a result understandable in a 2D editor like Photoshop, if you need to tweak or paint manually your texture in 2D.
We also add to this easy step an optional one, which name is “Control Painting”: paint areas on your model where you want to attract the UV seams created by the plugin or paint areas where you don’t want to have seams (like the face of your character). It’s just painting areas, not accurate seam. The purpose is to quickly paint these areas in few strokes!
This control painting also include a Density mode which, still through painted strokes, can change the local density of the UVs and then, allowing more or less pixels density for your textures.
I hope that you will enjoy this plugin, your feedback is welcome!
Happy New year to all of you and all my wishes for these next 365 days!
This is a “steampunk style” compositing I did quickly yesterday night, based on a panoramic photo I did of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, on the first January (yes, I was on the top of it, with my family
Sorry, it’s not the best image ever made :p
This is the original photo, composed of 16 shoots:
ZBrush 3.5 R3 is now available for all the ZBrush registered users.. or for the new ZBrush customers!
This R3 is not just a bug fix release, but add several new features and enhancements which brings the sculpting software to a new level, especially in the hard sculpting field, making this R3 what should have been (IMHO) ZBrush 4.5 while ZBrush 3.5 should have been ZBrush 4.0
With the 3.5 R3, you will have some nice new additions like:
Just check the new ZBrush 3.5 webpages on Pixologic.com for a new feature overview, view the presentation video on these same pages and don’t forget the ZBrush 3.5 car design tutorial by Pixolator himself
Don’t forget that ZBrush 3.5 R3 is a free update for all the ZBrush customers. Which others company do that?
For the french people, I started a ZBrush workshop this last week and through internet, with a sharing screen software. I won’t give more details here as it is for the french speaking people.
Perhaps I will do one in english one day!
Some new ZBrush doodling. I’m trying to find some time to sculpt more and more. I tried to do some hard edges. I need to find a better workflow and not always using the Pinch brush of ZBrush. Pinch should be only for the finishing to make the hard edges more hard, and not using this brush to build them. A good trick is to use the masks to build the shape, but it’s not always easy.
I will be offline for a week starting tomorrow because I will be in vacation with my wife and my two kids. No internet (well, the iPhone will be with me
), just my laptop to do some sculpting times to times.
Then it means no blog updates!
I won’t write a lot of personal posts in this blog as it is mainly targeted to 3D and graphic stuff, but as you may heard, Michael Jackson just die. Things like that happen and it was not really a surprise as he always had a weird health (Oxygen box, estethical surgery, oups, was he Black? etc…), but it’s a part of my memories when I was a kid which is now gone, like when Freddy Mercury died too.
Well, why this post? Simply because my first animation I did a long (long long) time ago was a moonwalk, thinking of, as you can guess, Michael Jackson. When I did it, I just worked with a simple IK, no bones as Electric Images wasn’t supporting them if I remember. I will try to find this video and add it to this post soon (tonight I guess).
Well, good by Michael, your music is still here!
Twitter, Twitter, Twitter… this is ’something’ that I heard a long time ago (well, not so long when we speak of web or computer…), but I never had the opportunity to take a look at this website…. which is more than a website.
Note: you can use twitter with some dedicated softwares too.
I won’t explain what is Twitter here, it’s easy to find on the web what it is, and the Twitter website itself will do the job. But I invite everybody to check this wonderful resource to find very useful information. I use it mainly to have valuable ‘things’ to see coming to me directly, like training videos, English training, articles related to 3D or web design or marketing, and more. Depending on who you will follow, you will see that Twitter is a very valuable tool!
Two articles to read: “Twitter is No Longer an Option. Why You Should be Tweeting” and “The Ultimate Guide for Everything Twitter“.
My twitter and the Pixologic Twitter…
